THE WALL(The Movie)

ESSAY

The movie “The Wall”, since the release of it, led to huge and endless discussions. For many people, this represents something different in relation to the protagonist,which was Pink Floyd. The events and the songs that are displayed, during the movie, let us comprehend clearly the meaning of the protagonist's life and the movie itself. After studying it in depth, the wall may mean a separation from the protagonist’s hurtful emotions within the problems he had to suffer and his real life.

Annalysing the plot of the film with an overall view,the movie try to link the emotions, feelings and problems.These things, represent a meaning through a mental wall which is an escape from real life, and the control that is exercised in the society.The mental wall’s bricks, may be the particular facts that happened such as his fatherless childhood, his dominant mother, the out of touch education system which is centered on “producing” a particularly type of individual and the government that treats citizens like chess pieces.All these facts, helped out to create this wall,so Roger, the protagonist could live freely in a way in a parallel universe without being controlled and suffering among his life problems.He escaped from reality; a reality in which he felt oppressed by fame and fortune.

Nonetheless, some people go against these views and tend to reject this meaning lacking evidence or reasons. Songs which are being played in the background during the movie may support this idea of a mental wall built in order to free his mind from control. “Another brick in the wall” it is a clearly example which validates the meaning previously explained due to the fact that it express Roger’s suffering because of the problems he had. We hear of the first grief stricken cries of Roger's lost father when it says "Daddy's flown across the ocean", Leaving just a memory, Snapshot in the family album, Daddy what else did you leave for me?” In the second part of the song Pin Floyd says “We don't need no education, we don't need no thought control." This is another example of the control that show the government,his mother and the education system tried to impose him, and he really doesn’t want this in his life.

All in all, we can say that the metaphorical wall symbolizes an open path leading the main character towards freedom, which was hidden due to his harsh life circumstances. In my opinion, it’s a complex meaning which it’s really interesting to understand but difficult to recognise in our own private lives. How Pink Floyd manages to escape from his reality, how he criticizes the mass control and the way he stands against it during the movie it’s really appealling and it is mind-opening.

Le mariage de mon ami français

La semaine derniére,je suis allée au marriage de mon ami Francais,Pierre.La fête a été á la campagne et il a fait un temp trés magnifique avec beaucoup de soleil.Á 15 heures de I´aprés midi,nous sommes allées á la cérémonie á I´ église,qui était trés belle et heureuse!Ensuite,avec le splendide coucher de soleil,nous sommes arrivées sur le lieu de la fête qui était a 20 kilomentres de I´église;lá,il avait trop de personnes qui dansaient trés joyeusement.Puis,quand le soleil est parti,mon ami et sa femme on dit un discours assez émotif;en effet,j´ai pu voir comme la mére de la femme a pleuré.Finalment,á 3 heures,je suis retournée á I´ hôtel,ou je me suis tombée sur mon lit parce que j´ étais trés fatiguée aprés ce jour merveilleux!

RESEÑA:Boquitas Pintadas

BOQUITAS PINTADAS

La novela Boquitas pintadas fue escrita por Manuel Puig en 1969. Esta fue una de sus más famosas creaciones, junto otras obras tales como: El beso de la mujer araña, Pubis angelical. Puig es un escritor argentino, que estudió cinematografía en Italia y luego para la felicidad de sus lectores dejó el cine por la literatura.  

Boquitas Pintadas  se divide en dieciséis capítulos  originalmente llamados entregas.

En esta obra el autor utiliza técnicas originales para desarrollar la trama  ( cartas,agenda, recortes periodísticos)

Es una novela que desarrolla una historia dramática de amor y crimen.

Como  temas  principales de Boquitas Pintadas podemos mencionar el amor  y la muerte. Puig muestra un abanico de posibilidades  de manifestaciones del amor ( el verdadero , el eterno ,el interesado , el mentiroso , el sucio , el transparente). La muerte en  Boquitas pintadas  es un elemento que nos marca partes importantes de la novela.

En esta obra el autor recupera los tipos convencionales de  la novela sentimental ( la mujer malcasada , el inescrupuloso don Juan , la casquivana de familia bien , la solterona resentida  y la sirvienta engañada . En esta novela se habla de amores eternos y venganzas pasionales .Aparece la hipocresía de la clase media argentina , las diferencias sociales sustentadas en la violencia y el  fraude. 

Mientras uno va leyendo la obra , se va introduciendo lentamente en la época  ( 1940/ 1968) gracias a las descripciones de lugares,vestimenta, paisajes , costumbres , que el autor  realiza detenidamente.

La historia comienza con el fallecimiento de Juan Carlos  Etchepare , a los veintinueve años de edad , su muerte es publicada en una revista mensual” Nuestra Vecindad “ . A su vez Nené , que se ha casado con un hombre que no ama y vive en Buenos Aires se entera de la muerte de su gran y verdadero amor( Juan Carlos). Con mucha tristeza comienza a escribir cartas a la mamá de Juan Carlos . En las  mismas se sincera con ella y le cuenta porque no prospero  el  amor con su hijo y detalla intimidades de su triste vida. Estas cartas no las recibía la mamá de Juan Carlos, si no su hermana Celina quien odiaba a Nené y haciéndose pasar por su madre contestaba dicha correspondencia

Celina llena de odio, logra vengarse de Nené ( a quien le echaba la culpa de la muerte del hermano) le envía todas las cartas escritas por Nené al señor Massa ( marido de Nené) quedando en evidencia los verdaderos sentimientos dela protagonista.

Al mismo tiempo se cuenta la historia de Raba ,empleada doméstica de Mabel ,que es seducida por Pancho ( albañil y mejor amigo de Juan Carlos) con el que tiene un hijo.Pancho la abandona y cuando Raba se entera que él seduce a su  patrona Mabel lo mata.Mabel trata de tapar la verdadera razón de este asesinato para no verse envuelta en escándalos amorosos

En relación a los personajes  uno los va imaginando al leer las entregas.Aparecen las distintas clases sociales con sus privilegios y miserias. Aparece también el machismo marcado de los años treinta y la sumisión de la mujer.

Me gustó leer el libro, me sentí atraído por los personajes, me remonté a historias de la época muy parecidas a las contadas por mis abuelos. Dejé volar mi imaginación hasta llegar al final que no fue muy parecido al que me fui imaginando mientras leía.

My Formal Letter

Dear Sirs,

I am writing this letter to express my deep disappointment at the flight to Sri via Amsterdam.First it was delayed but finally they cancelled. I am very confused and depressed in the way that the situation was controled by the airline company. This is the second time that this happens to me.

 Two years ago I had this a similar problem with another airline,so I supposed that  your service would be different. By this situation, I had to cancel my plans and I had to organized again my holiday. I did not have the chance but to stay at the airport sleeping, gooing from one place to another waiting a responce from the airline. It seems that nobody is responsible. I was very enraged, I could not waste my time anymore waiting for something that It is not going to happen.None of you will give me back the time and days I have lost because of yours own difficulties.

Due to the presviously mentioned reasons I can affirm that I am speechless.I would really aprreciate it if the airline showed a more responsable attitude towards me and could give me either a refound or a free ticket and perhaps a discount in order to have lunch.I would be very grateful if you could take these requests into consideration.

The Help

In the class of writting we write an informal letter about the movie "The Help".In  this assignment, the idea was to supposed to take the role of  Skeeter ,and we had to  write to a friend living in New York and to tell her about the stories that  Skeeter has heard in Mississippi about  the afroamerican  population. In the letter we dont have to give  names or disclose the secret about Skeeter writing a book about the helpers in Mississipp.

Dear Elizabeth,

 I am sorry because I know that I should greet you properly since we haven´t spoken for a long time, I would rather omit that part and go directly to the horribles and melancholy stories that I learnt here in Jackson Mississippi.In the last week I met two black helpers at Jackson, whose names I can´t said and I prefer that they remaind in secret, and they shear me many conflicts and problems about the tough life Negros are obliged to face in my white supremacist town, which set my teeth on edge. As well as facing racial segregation and verbal violence, these citizens have to pull up with their intolerant employers abusing of their wealth and social status to humiliate the hands that feed their children and look after their beloved homes.However, they are mocked by white residents who undermine their efforts and challenge their ability to send their own kids to college after having raised the money from years of hard labour. This is the case of a helper in which her greedy owner, who I am not supposed to mention, refused to give her a loan in order to give her a good education education,this i can´t believe it., can you  believe this? Mississippi is a place that women can´t realise their drems.You know, that actually reminded me of the day in which the most despicable and self-centred lady in town convinced almost the entire neighbourhood that the black help needed special toilets outside white houses since they might spread deadly illnesses. Pure nonsense! In conclution, that is the reason why that intolerant woman fired one of the helpers I've previously interviewed, because they must  to use her private toilet. There is another pretty “lady”that in the town  is known as a intolerant and superior woman because she despised her helper even though she took care of her toddler since she was practically born just because of the whims of other women with a higher status than hers was.Well, I hope that these stories make you reflect and think that this is not a jock.I wanted to see you and keep sharing about the stories that I listen.Plese write me.
